Utility of latent construct of dementia to study the imaging biomarkers Lead Investigator: Ram Bishnoi Institution : University of Texas Health Science Center E-Mail : bishnoi@uthscsa.edu Proposal ID : 534 Proposal Description: My hypothesis is: The shared variance of cognitive task performances which is correlated with functional impairment is representative of true dementia. A latent variable can be constructed neuropsych tests and measures of functional status such as CDR. This latent construct can then be used to examine the correlations with blood based and imaging bio-markers. This way, these bio-markers will be true bio-markers of dementia and not of non-specific cognitive impairments. The variables required for construction of latent factor: CDR or FAQ neuropsychological battery / cognitive task performances covariates such as age, gender, education, GDS, and apoe4.
